Our last shoot of the performance that was done to get a greater variety of shots and to replace some shots that were too grainy from the first shoot went very well and run a lot smoother than the first shoot. We also used a strobe light on this occasion and received help from fellow student Lewis and Chris our technician also. Here are some pictures from that shoot.

Narrative Take 2
Our second narrative shoot went very well and ran relatively smoothly with the help of our narrative story board to refer to. Michael acted as the trouble maker in the detention who unplugged his headphones to play the music out loud which was good as he new exactly what he was doing. Due to the energetic and dancey nature of the shoot with all the students and the teacher dancing it was great fun to film and everyone was very involved and professional, all being media students.
This is a picture Charley sent us prior to the shoot to show what clothing she had that would make her look like a teacher (and she made for a great teacher):

Production Meeting for New Narrative Plan
After receiving our teacher feedback on the narrative idea we got together as a group and planned the next stages of the narrative. For this new narrative we would use Charley, our female singer and double her as the teacher. We also decided at the meeting that we would use one of the media classrooms due to better accessibility to lights and because it is simply easier for us.
We created a narrative storyboard too in our free time to get an idea of what this narrative would actually look like and here it is:

The Promo Photoshoot
For our album cover and website we needed photographs in order to promote the image that our artists portray. We organised a photoshoot with a white screen, lighting and many different costumes to give variety to our promotion.
Michael took pictures of Daniel, Charley and myself. Charley had four different costumes and Daniel and I had three. There was a great variety of different shots and we were happy with the results, here are some of the photographys edited and unedited:

Second Shoot Narrative
On the weekend we shot our first narrative sequence with Lauren Good who was our teacher and a group of fellow students who we used as pupils lazy pupils. We shot the narrative in one of the biology labs. The shots looked good at first but we came to realise that the narrative didn't seem to be working or be rounded enough for what we wanted. Lauren also didn't really seem to fit the part as a teacher. We are now in the process of redesigning the narrative after reviewing the footage today.

First Shoot: Performance
These are the reflections of our first shoot. We shot the performance of our artist in the schools Seward Studio after school from 4pm until 9pm. In organisation equipment had to be brought up to the studio during the day such as the two desks for the DJ's and all the sound equipment. Then we spend at least an hour setting up the lighting and getting the cast (Charley, Daniel and myself) ready.
Setting up was a great deal easier with our technician Chris who is great with lighting and we invited a friend, Jess, who is studying production at university to come along and lend a helping hand.We also organised with a fellow student Ming who happens to be a great photographer to come up and take photos of the shoot which could be potentially used in the rest of the project. After the shoot we were very pleased with the results of the photo's Ming took however some of the footage when we viewed it captured on the edit sweet today looks a little grainy so we may have to do another shoot. However I think we can still use a lot for the footage.

Mask Production
Due to the faceless nature of our DJ's we needed to produce masks for our DJ's which would give the DJ's an individual identity and style. This involved Michael and myself spending a day buying the equipment in order to produce the masks as well as other equipment and props we would need for our shoot such as a black tie for Daniel. Meanwhile Daniel produced a performance shot list.
The first stage was to buy the equipment to make the masks. This involved journeying to a variety of different stored including a stationary store, a fancy dress store and a DIY store. To make the masks we used hockey mask from the fancy dress shop as a template, covered the entire mask in masking tape to allow them to have a matt paint look and so the paint would work on the masks. Also a see through black material was stuck to the inside of the eyes to prevent eyes being seen. However one eye of the red mask was to be left so the eye could be scene for a weird look.

The production of my mask involved using a sponge to paint the bottom of the mask blue to give a rippley look. Then I sprayed a black matt spray paint heavily onto the top of the mask so that it would drip onto the blue acrylic paint area. I then added some faint silver lines over the eyes.
The mask that Michael produced was created in a similar way to begin with using the masking tape. He then sprayed the entire mask black and allowed it to dry. He then used masking tape cut in styled shaped to cover areas of the mask and painted the entire mask red. After the paint dried he then removed the tape which gave an interesting effect.
This is the result of that hard work. Many people commented on which mask they preferred down to personal preference and there was a 50/ 50 split which was great for us. The fact that the masks created debate meant that this would probably happen for our artists in the real world.
