Evaluation

1. Did you enjoy the workshop day? What were your best bits and why?

The workshop day was a great experience that I enjoyed thoroughly. Particular highlights for me were actually being part of the performance and maintaining energy levels over the 12 hour day. Also trying to encourage and enthuse others to perform, dance and sing was great and trying to remove peoples self conciousness.

2. What did you learn from participating in the workshop?

I have learnt that a lot of energy is needed for everyone on a music video shoot including the camera man director and all other jobs involved as well as the cast. If also learnt that time is needed in order to get the best quality footage and scrutiny gets the best results and that the day is very intense and heavily planned and structured. Time needs to be set aside for any problems encountered on a music video shoot. For example at the beginning of the day there were many technical difficulties involving cameras and moniters which set the scedual back one hour and the time was made back by shortening breaks and improving efficiency of the shooting process.

3. Are you pleased with the footage and your edit? Is it how you expected it to look?

In terms of shots and professionalism of footage I was very pleased with clever and well structured footage. I was pleased also with the edit with a very comparable video to the actual music video produced with 5. There is however some problems with the crowd in some shots where they look very condensed leaving spaces around the edges of the frame. Also in terms of editing and grading due to time restrictions the lighting is not at top quality for example. Some shots were still to light or too dark. However I think the entire process was a great success and is of very high quality.

4. How do you think your workshop experiences will impact on your approach to next term's music video coursework?

I think that this experience will have a huge impact on next terms music video project as I have learnt so much from the workshop. It has taught me that simple is better and sticking to one location may be an easier and more effective idea. It is highly likely that i will choose to perform in the music video we create as I enjoyed this area so much and to to having the media knowledge will understand what is needed from me in the video which an outside performer is less likely to have.
